DIY Outdoor Movie Night

As I sit at my desk and look out the window, it’s already dark outside and it’s not yet 5pm! While I love the fall season, the only thing holding it back is the lack of late afternoon sun. Of course it also has its advantages. I find that I can get Hudson to bed earlier because it’s too dark and he thinks it’s too late. An added benefit is hosting an outdoor movie night and being able to start the movie at 5pm and have my little guests stay up for the entire movie.

Yes, there is a cold air, but that’s what blankets are for. We also light our fire pit for extra heat.

Here is some inspiration:

When we built our deck, one of the best parts of our new outdoor space was our amazing outdoor furniture. I love having a real outside section that my whole family can sit in.

For movie night, I just moved out of the section onto the lawn. The outdoor furniture is so light that it was very simple.

I made sure to fill the couch with comfy cushions and have extra blankets for people to snuggle up in or lay out on the lawn and watch the movie from there. By blankets I actually mean I went to Joanns and picked up a pill fleece and cut blankets 2 yards long. Clever! No sewing, no fraying! Also, I was able to use a 40% coupon and it was a steal!

I filled a wooden box with dollar candy from the Dollar Tree and mini soda cans with straws. I warmed up pretzels and added them to my snack table as well.

Of course it’s movie night without popcorn! I made bags upon bags of popcorn and filled them into a basket. I then provided guests with bags of popcorn, spray butter, and all kinds of goodies so they could make their own custom popcorn treats.

All you needed to do was:

-Take a bag

-Popcorn

-Season with treats

-Shake off

-Enjoy!

I made sure to include savory and sweet options:

My personal favourite:

I also made some of my favorite Nuetlla pizzas. Hmm! So good!

I also topped off my concession stand with a hot chocolate bar!

The mugs, hot chocolate, and marshmallows are a great start to any hot chocolate bar, but I also added some Andean mints, white chocolate chips, and butterscotch chips.

What else could be better than some laughs, delicious food, and hanging out with those closest and dearest to you!
