Home Tuition for Elementary Students

Almost all children have a personal tutor who coaches them in their school work and prepares them for exams. More parents are hiring private tutors for their children, either because they don’t have the time to coach their children or because they don’t know the current educational curriculum. Therefore, many hire college students, graduates, or full-time tutors to come into their homes for private training.

Today, parents put more pressure on their children because they understand the competitiveness of society. If your children fall behind in their studies, they are doomed to be eliminated from society because reality is cruel. Even though all children have the same opportunities in schools, they still have to do extremely well to stand out from the crowd. Parents are no longer satisfied with scores in the band 2 range; they want their children to score high in Band 1, be in the top 3 in the class, etc. They want their children to learn faster than the school curriculum so that their children can score on school assessments as their private tutors have already taught them. Therefore, this explains the increase in home schooling services, parents are not only demanding that their children do well, but they are also demanding that guardians make sure that their children do well. Private tutors must now have good academic records and experience to be selected for assignments.

Today, the demand for home schooling far exceeds the supply of private tutors, resulting in higher tuition fees. The average market rate is approximately $20 per hour for the primary level. Private tutors, especially college students, also demand such a fee, tuition assignments with fees less than $20 will likely be frowned upon by college students. However, home tuition is only available to those who are willing to pay, primarily middle- and high-income families. These parents are more educated, so they place more emphasis on their children’s academic achievement. Not only focusing on their academic sphere, parents also enroll other educational courses like speech and drama for their children. They hope to give their children a more holistic development. Learning starts early, so for many children homeschooling is provided when they are at the lowest primary level. There is a need to strengthen children’s foundation in subjects like English and math from an early age because as their educational level increases, the addition problems will only get more difficult. Therefore, it is important to have a solid foundation.

Homeschooling is more popular than tuition centers because homeschooling is usually done within the children’s facility and is more of a 1-1 basis, as opposed to tuition center, where students are placed in group classes. Each child has different learning abilities, if placed in group teaching the tutor may not give full attention and may speed up or slow down the enrollment rate. This will definitely not help the child in his academic pursuit. Also, some children are too shy to speak in group classes and may be overshadowed by other outgoing children. Therefore, participating in homeschooling will be a very wise choice for most parents.
