Inventor of the treadmill

William Edward Staub was an American mechanical engineer who invented and developed the first consumer treadmill for home use, the PaceMaster 600, in the late 1960s. Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper, who helped popularize the invention of Staub described Staub as “a pioneer in exercise, not for the athlete, but for the masses.”

Staub developed the first consumer treadmill after reading the 1968 book, Aerobics, by Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper. Cooper’s book noted that people who ran a mile for eight minutes four to five times a week would be in better physical condition than those who didn’t.

Staub noticed that there were no affordable treadmills for home use at the time and decided to develop a treadmill for his own use. His son Gerald designed an on/off switch for the machine.

William Staub died on July 19, 2012, at the age of 96. Interestingly, he was using the treadmill until May 2012.

One of the most popular types of home exercise equipment is the treadmill, which provides a direct and efficient aerobic workout.

For many, treadmills are a good option to start a new exercise routine because walking is well tolerated by most people, regardless of fitness level. As strength and endurance develop, the treadmill can be used for jogging and interval training.

When it comes to health and fitness, everyone has different needs, goals, and exercise routines. If you are a runner and running defines your lifestyle, you generally prefer to be outdoors. However, succumbing to tight work schedules, different occupations, and a long winter war ahead, treadmills prove to be an ideal investment for fitness workouts and solid indoor workouts, improving your cardiovascular fitness. From manual treadmills to the best motorized ones, they fit different budget requirements and should be purchased with long-term health goals in mind.

The following things should be paid attention to when buying a treadmill for home or organization:

– Cost of the treadmill

– Use and health goals (walking/jogging/weight loss/running training, etc.)

– Motor and horsepower (look for 1.5 to 2.5 HP continuous duty, DC motors are generally quieter)

– Must provide stability, durability and a smooth ride.

– Warranty and guarantee (Guarantee for at least one year)

– Additional functions and programs.

Get active and stay fit with these health machines! The treadmill provides the best healthier life for a complete lifestyle.
