How long does the commitment have to be for the Nutrisystem diet?

Sometimes I hear from people who want to know how long they should be on the Nutrisystem diet. My answer is that this honestly depends on the person asking the question. I am often met with a blank stare or a questioning look. Some people will follow up and ask how come this is a decision left to them. Many assume that the diet must be prescribed by a physician, who must also determine the length of time he or she is willing to prescribe the diet. Others assume you have to sign up or commit to a certain number of months before they can order any food. None of these are true.

The reality is that you do not have to make any commitments beforehand with this diet. No one makes the decision about the length of your experience except you. No prescription or commitment is required as you are only buying groceries. And you can do this for any length of time you want because you can order individually or you can order enough to last you a couple of weeks or a month.

Of course, the amount of food you need will depend on the amount of weight you intend to lose. And some people will want to have a very specific plan with weekly or monthly weight loss goals and others will want to take it day by day and evaluate later if they want to continue. I often find that there are two common approaches to this. Some people like to know what’s going to happen, and those people may have a plan to lose, say, twenty-five pounds. And they may decide that losing two pounds a week is doable. So you will find that this will take about thirteen weeks or about three months. And they can go ahead and order enough meals to last them the estimated time.

Other people will take a different strategy. They may know they want to lose twenty-five pounds, but they want the room to assess things as they come. So they could order a month’s worth of food and have good results. However, they may decide to take a week or two break before placing another order. Both strategies can work well.

However, others are lucky that they only have a small amount of weight to lose and only need to place an order before they are satisfied with the results and can continue with regular food. I hope this article has shown you that you don’t have to be on the Nutrisystem for longer than you think. No one is going to force you to commit to anything. It’s simply a situation where you order food when you want to be on a diet and don’t order again when you want a break or are at a point where you’re happy with the results.

The diet is meant to be flexible and convenient, and since different people start with different amounts of weight to lose and have different goals, you can make this determination for yourself, though the company offers plenty of resources to help guide you if you want or need.
