Advertising agencies to receive good discounts

Every business or company should always have its own internal advertising agency. Not all newspapers offer agency rates, but most do, and the money you could save could be in the thousands of dollars. This is a trick I learned only after spending over $250,000 a year on newspapers. Don’t worry though; I brought over a million. If I had used an in-house ad agency, I would have saved 10-15% and that would have meant saving over $25,000 – $37,000 that year in ad discounts. Can you see how valuable this can be? WOW!

That really surprised me when it was pointed out to me by a friend who had just taken over his late father’s media business. This is what I recommend you do:

When you license your business or company, use one of your DBA (Doing Business As) names so that it is strictly your advertising agency. Let’s say your company or business is called “You Incorporated” and your DBA is “You Advertising Agency”. You would simply have “You Incorporated” pay your other business “You Advertising Agency” and your “You Advertising Agency” business would place the ads with the newspaper company and get the agency fee discounts of 10% – 15% or even further. You will always want to ask in the newspapers if they offer discount rates for agencies and what they are. You can even hire someone or have a friend call you as your agency representative to place your “You Incorporated” ads to make it look more official.

Don’t lose tens of thousands of dollars like I did. I’m still kicking myself. Even the tabloids deduct tons of money by using a discount on the agency fee. This means more net profit for you, while your hobbyist competitors are squeezing out all your pennies every week or month, just to keep your current ads. In the meantime, it is expanding and few know how you can do it, even if you have a cheaper ticket price or a more expensive ticket price than theirs. Everyone will wonder how you can earn so much money. Very good, huh? You can use agency discounts for newspaper, magazine, radio, and even television advertising along with all other forms of advertising that offer those discounts. Once your agency is set up, you’ll be set up for life to use all forms of advertising, even to the point of placing ads for others for profit.
