Internet Marketing Strategies: Start With The Content

Whether you’re building a website to support your brick-and-mortar business or running a business entirely online, there are a few internet marketing strategies you need to implement to make your site stand out on the world wide web.

When it comes to creating profitable websites or blogs, content is king. The information highway did not earn its name by chance, it is a reality. Therefore, if you want to attract visitors, you will have to give them something to see. Correction, give them something they want to see more of.

Flashy logos and stylish banners are meaningless without strong content. Without anything to attract your visitor, they will just bounce right back to your page. A bounce occurs when a visitor is on your page for only a few seconds and then clicks the Back or Forward button, or leaves your page without actually reviewing it. Most analytics software doesn’t count this as an actual visit, since there wasn’t enough time to actually review the page.

What makes a person stay on one page and bounce on another? Delighted. In fact, great content. And a lot.

Imagine that you are walking down the main street of your hometown. You walk past shops and storefronts, when something catches your eye on a hardware display. Intrigued, you walk into that store to take a closer look. While in the store, you come across a shelf full of laser levels that you’ve been looking for all over town. You buy the laser level, glad you finally found it.

The next time you need a hardware item, you’ll remember that store. It was the content of the window that drew him in and the content of the store that will bring him back. Web pages work the same way. Just like the hardware store, you need to keep updating your window displays to attract people, plus keep your shelves fully stocked so they keep coming back for more.

Content is probably the most overlooked internet marketing strategy. Advertising is pointless if you don’t have content that people want to visit. Without great content, you could spend a fortune on paid ads and still only get bounced views.

So what makes great content? Written articles that educate your customers. Blogs as part of a web page are a great way to keep things up to date. Videos are also a great internet marketing strategy, as long as you put in the effort to make a good one. And yes, a picture says more than a thousand words.

I repeat, content is king. Great content rewards you with visitors. Keep your content organized. keep it cool Update it with new entries. Start a how-to section. Add some related news. Become the website people go to for advice, information, or even entertainment. Without great content on your website, you will never implement a successful internet marketing strategy.
