Lacrosse Equipment – What equipment do you need to play lacrosse?

Lacrosse, like most sports, has a list of equipment that students must bring to participate. Fortunately, although you can get very high-end clubs, there are inexpensive options on the market as well. To get a basic lacrosse stick, expect to spend $ 20-30. Balls are usually provided by the school or team, and there may be a few extra practice sticks out there, but players are expected to have their own crosses ( sticks) to play.

Regardless of gender, all players wear a mouth guard. All it takes is a ball to the face to lose teeth, a harsh lesson learned by school players of years past. Today you cannot enter the field without a mouth guard.

Cleats are optional, but most players choose to use them for added grip while running, stopping, and turning on the field. When buying cleats, be sure to get soccer, football, or lacrosse cleats with plastic spikes and not golf or baseball cleats; metal picks are illegal in most organizations.

Beyond a stick, balls, mouth guard, and cleats, men’s and women’s lacrosse equipment varies. Because body control is legal in men’s lacrosse, more body armor is required for players. Male players wear gloves, shoulder pads, protective cups and helmets.

Although women’s lacrosse is a less aggressive version of the sport, women still require some safety gear. The goalkeeper can use pads, but most players cannot. The goalkeeper is required to have a face mask with a throat guard. All players are expected to wear goggles / goggles.
