Maldives: a great place to visit

Who doesn’t like to go on vacation? I’m sure we all do it from time to time. For all of you who are looking for a perfect place to enjoy your vacation, go on your long-awaited honeymoon, try scuba diving or take a dip in the sea, you can easily turn around and fly to Maldives. This is a beautiful destination for visitors where life couldn’t be simpler. The warm water of the beach, the beautiful blue sky and the colorful towns are waiting for you to arrive. Pull up your swimming socks, grab a camera, pack your bags and get ready to have some fun in the Maldives.

If you’re worried about how to get to the Maldives, don’t. Maldives is probably the easiest place to get a visa. It gives you a visa on arrival for 30 days. But you need to have the necessary documents with you for that. Hotel reservations don’t cost that much either. Just a mother 150 USD will do. However, the importation of certain substances (pork, alcohol, and pornographic materials) is prohibited here unless you wish to be penalized. Male International Airport is your gateway to the Maldives. Planes from Sri Lanka, Singapore, Great Britain and Dubai land there. If you are from Italy, Gan airport is the Addu airport you will target. They have flights arriving and departing for Milan.

Once you are in Maldives, you can use the boats as local transportation. These are like taxis in Maldives. Another means of transportation you can have is air taxis (private planes that provide transportation services). You can have Privately Owned Yachts do the transportation for you. You will need IATP (Inner Atoll Travel Permit) with you to visit places except Male. Interestingly, your passport and an invitation from the resident of the desired island are needed to get one. You must hand over 10 Malaysian rupees to avail the paper.

Maldives is popular for diving. Divers enjoy the seas and have a great time. They prefer to stay on ships rather than in resorts. The reason is that the resort fee is very high there. You will see fish of various kinds underwater in the Maldives and the coral islands are stunning to behold. Surfing can be another option for a lover of the sea. The biggest waves submerge the Maldives between the months of March to October. June-July is the ideal time for some surfing or snorkeling.

You will find very few handicraft shops in Male to shop. The Maldivian Rufiah is something that can be called a souvenir in itself. Coins are wonderful gifts. Food-wise, you can expect a plethora of seafood that has a taste of South India and Sri-Lanka. Rest assured the food will be spicy with fish and “Roshi” (much like Roti in India).

Maldives is a great place to visit when you have summer looking your way. The beaches, the marine world and the kitchens steal your attention from everything else. You just need to enter the Maldives, stick your head in the waves and enjoy!
