The youth programs of the New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints Soccer Club has different categories of youth programs in their efforts to promote community development. The first category is for boys and girls from 8 to 15 years old. Every year the boys and girls participate in the punting, passing and kicking skills competition. The competition that attracts millions of children each year has been around for quite some time and is free for everyone. Every year, the Saints play host against the championship level team. This year’s competition will take place at the Louisiana Superdome.
Another category is the junior player development category. The New Orleans Soccer League has created a youth development soccer program that takes kids ages 12-14. The program takes each participant through a step-by-step progression of skills instruction, packaged in a way that is easily adaptable, and more. fun that will make children entertained and at the same time they can learn. Participants are coached by qualified and experienced coaches selected from local markets, high schools and from New Orleans’ own football league.
Each and every participant is mentored through a life skills development curriculum that will be followed throughout all of the field activities they will undertake. A different new skill message is taught as a topic for that particular week and each topic is addressed through the context of soccer.
Instructors coach participants to connect life skills as they are applied in soccer, as well as in real-life experience, such as at home, school, and any other area, including the community in general. This program helps kids and their families enjoy soccer with the experience that comes with it. Trainers benefit from this because it helps them promote a positive experience for all participants. A youth development program provides hours of practical training.
The last category is New Orleans flag football. It is the premier youth soccer program of the national soccer league for children between the ages of 6 and 14. It is found across the country, including all 32 NFL markets. NFL Flag is a community club that gives all young people the opportunity to play in an organized NFL football league and have that experience. All children are encouraged to sign up for the youth programs as long as they are between the ages of 6 and 14 to play. After identifying the category to which they belong, the new shirts and belts will be delivered to them.
Subsequently, the eligible teams have the opportunity to compete in the regional tournaments that are organized each year. The team that wins each age group in the regional tournament goes on to the national tournaments of champions. The youth program has helped to discover new talent that otherwise would not have been realized. Help children discover their talents at an early age and use them to the fullest for the benefit of the community and a country as a whole.
