7 Types of People Who Wear Wellington Boots!

Welly’s season has hit us with a wet slap in the face. The weather is getting colder, the ground is getting wetter, and our clothes are getting grayer. But there are certain people among us who will not be so defeatist with their attitude towards the British climate! Because they embrace cold, humidity and wind! They are users of wellies!

So, to celebrate those among us who are brave enough to face any element, we present to you our complete wellington boot wearer’s guide: from fashionista to farmer to superhero!
(Psst, “welly” is short for a wellies ;))

  1. star style – Boot style: super modern yet simple Hunter wellies in a multitude of muted colors – Clothing: Skinny jeans, MASSIVE pseudo-fur coat: the style star knows exactly what’s hot and what’s certainly not. This year, it’s a wet and disheveled look that’s out of style, so how do you fight the elements? Looking to the stars for inspiration, our style star considers the boot options: a classic fall/winter look. Perfect! With the welly you can refrain from the exposed elements and concentrate on the important things. Looking great.
  2. Music lover – festival that remembers – Boot style: never mind – the more waterproof the better – Clothing: jeans, light clothes, T-shirt of your favorite band, painted nails – Festivals being a distant memory, the music lover looks forward to the next concerts in an intimate atmosphere. But what is this? Is a last minute festival happening this month? Well then… better pack the wellies…!
  3. Lord of the stately – A fantastic tweed show!- Boot style: majestic and durable – perfect for land rover – Clothing: well… khaki/chino pants… tweed blazer? You have just been invited to the latest river regatta and you have no idea what to wear for the occasion. Of course, it will be frequented by the highest levels of society and your best friends. But then again, the river is obviously treacherous terrain filled with muddy banks and potentially plenty of booze to splash about. Yes, yes, there is a canopy, but let’s face it: rain makes a good combination… So you need waterproof clothing, you say? I’m afraid the classic hunter wellies will be the only boots worthy of the credit today. Let’s get drunk.
  4. Farmer- Boot style: Overtly practical – has lasted at least 40 years – Clothing: Distressed jeans, corduroy with mud laces, plaid shirts – Wellington boots – made to withstand the harshest weather conditions thanks to their rubber construction that allows for flexibility and waterproof properties. It’s almost as if they were made with farmers in mind. Of course, the farmer loves his wellies, they are almost as important as the sheepdog that accompanies him, reliable and trustworthy, ready to work. It doesn’t matter that the rain is torrential, endless and already causing mini-floods: these boots will be so covered in mud that the layers could be used to carbon date the official birth of “Trixie”, the prize sow.
  5. The celebrity- Boot style: Unique custom designed designer wellies – potentially diamond encrusted with additional gold decals Clothing: either outright mismatch (leggings for the pub, sweatpants for the corner shop) or overtly designer
  6. – Celebrity is the epitome of trend: they anticipate and dictate to the masses and are an inspiration to all who lay eyes on the greatness of celebrities. There is a lot of pressure to ensure that you can be this handsome all the time. But making sure you’re stylish is a tough job that only the celebrity can do: match the latest fashions with the trendiest footwear. To be fair to celebrities, it would be hard to classify a style, from Gwyneth’s pub wellies to Dame Shirley Bassey’s fantastic diamond-encrusted wellies. Of course, the common trend is the high end wellies tend to be: from the 250 spent on designer Jimmy Cho to the 35k spent on Shirley boots. You can buy style…yes…looks like you can…don’t worry…they can afford it 😉

  7. the superhero- Boot style: red knee high boots Clothing: mostly blue and red… lycra Is it a bird? It is a plane? No, it’s a pair of bright red wellies flying through the air! Where would the man of steel be without the famous red boots? The big blue would be completely without its famous blur of red flying across the sky, which would certainly prevent the whole “is it a bird?” thing from happening, no one would even see it! And how do we know that they are wellies? They have to be nearly indestructible, waterproof (it flies through goddamn rain clouds and oceans), and…knee-high? They also need to be very shiny and comfortable for a LOT of handwork. And he is a former farmer… hello!? He’s probably had these boots since he was twelve years old.
  8. Magic Wellingtons – power wellies – Type of wellies: mythical magic wellies that are firefighter red – Clothing: big green wool sweater, blue pants If you had a genius, what would you wish for? Chances are, after the endless amount of ice cream and lemonade, you’ll probably find yourself making more wishes, after which the genie will see you turned into a big shoe and stomp on you for making such a silly wish. Well, if his name is William and he has a great pair of red wellies, he probably won’t have that problem. Your outfit is always green, your hair is always spiky, and you have bright blue pants. Chances are you don’t want anything other than pure adventure! But then you have a pair of magical red wellies that grant you all the wishes in the world. Well done William.

Do you fit into any of these categories of Wellington boot wearers?
