Cloud computing would be a smart and efficient way to share software systems through cloud technology instead of having individual copies of everything. In a nutshell, we own the Facebook app, but we just access it online.
It is quite true that computer networks and the wonders of the Internet have become embedded in our bones by the time most of us live, eat, study and work with computers. Every day seems to bring something surprisingly new to the fabulous world of technology, whether it’s applied to education, smartphones, cameras, or cars. Space technology, medicine, and weapons are in the race to elevate their systems through superior technology.
Use of cloud computing
Can you feel the sheer weight of all that Aadhaar or census data dealing with over a billion people? Can hundreds, thousands of computers handle all that information? While it’s true that hard drives can hold thousands of books, where is all of this going to end up?
It is a deep mistake to think that the earth’s resources would never run out. Perhaps our ancestors thought that way or could not imagine to what extent we would consume all the resources. A day will come when we will have exhausted all the natural resources that now exist and seem infinite like the sun. The sun itself would be extinguished and life on earth would cease! However, that day is too far away to start worrying now!
Like the way we use the electricity grid, paying for what we consume, the cloud contains all the elements that are metered and paid according to the degree of use. There is no need to replicate extensive software and hardware devices with each user. So the costs are shared, like using vehicles from the pool instead of five of them driving to work in separate vehicles.
Cloud facilities can be a private cloud that is wholly owned by an organization for its own use, a public service that provides facilities over a network, or a hybrid cloud that contains multiple types of services.
Have you heard of IaaS, SaaS, PaaS and UCaaS? The “S” at the end stands for services and the initial letters stand for Information, Software, Platform and Unified Communications. From the cloud, a range of services is dispensed where the organization and management are in the hands of the Cloud, which is limited to dispensing. Users would access the services through smartphones or laptops like the current ones and would contract the services they want to use just as we choose the channels we want with the cable operator.
Benefits of cloud computing
Experts believe that such an arrangement would bring enormous benefits compared to the present. The biggest advantage is perhaps security, although we may be concerned about sensitive data. The advantages of a large organization are many in terms of a shared strength as an army of people and systems.
The freedom to access the cloud from anywhere in the world via browser is a huge plus and it really doesn’t matter what device you’re working from. Costs and maintenance become simpler because you have centralized systems and software that avoid unnecessary duplication with each user.
Performance, productivity and reliability are greatly improved under a large umbrella of experts and the user has little to worry about except plugging in and working or playing. Three cheers for the cloud computing of the future!
