Budget for private Tanzania camping or join an explained safari from monkey territory to tsetse flies

Tanzania Camping Budget Safaris Private or Joining are still the real authentic African Safari. First of all, we would like to inform you that some of the campsites in the Tanzania National Parks, especially Lake Manyara and Tarangire National Park, are outside the Parks.

This is because the campsites within the Parks are not safe.

There are so many elephants and tsetse flies in Tarangire during the seasons of the year and in Lake Manyara many monkeys. You can lose your 6 day safari food in just five minutes and there is nothing you can do because you are inside monkey territory.

The animal kingdom. Here nature rules and human demands are not a priority!

For Tanzania Camping Budget Safari we normally use Land Rover/Land Cruiser/Minibus 4 x 4 depending on the safari schedule and season. Most of our clients prefer to use Land Cruisers in the dry season and Land Rovers in the wet season between April and June each year.

This is because the Land Rover is always on four wheels while driving in the mud, but the Land Cruiser needs to engage all four wheels when it needs to. Also, the Land Cruiser is easier to get stuck because of the rear springs, while the Land Rover doesn’t get stuck as easily because all front and rear tires are protected by coil springs.

Animals normally drink water early in the morning and late at night. It is possible to see such activities in Lake Manyara or in Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is much better because very early game drives are allowed even before breakfast. It is possible to include a walking safari, especially for those who are going on a private safari.

This is charged directly or if you insist we also include it in the price. We will of course state the cost separately for those who join the safari. Not all clients want to go on a walking safari. Walking safari can be arranged at the camp ie Twiga Camp / Fig Tree Camp / Zion camp and Popo Camp at Lake Manyara and Tarangire.

Normally we take 4 people in a normal Land Cruiser or 6 setter Land Rover for those who are camping safari and 6 people in an 8 setter extended vehicle. We reserved other rear seats for additional camping facilities ie mattresses, blankets, tents and sheets.

SAMPLE CAMPING SAFARI ITINERARY IN TANZANIA

DAY 1: Arusha-Tarangire

You will be picked up at around 09:00 am and depart for Tarangire National Park for the Game Drive. Tarangire is most spectacular during the dry season, when thousands of animals migrate to the park from the surrounding dry Maasai steppe to use the permanent water supply of the Tarangire River.

You can see herds of elephants, numbering over a hundred. Tarangire is also famous for its tree pythons, which are easily seen. The animal population in the dry season rivals that of the Serengeti with wildebeest, zebra, bushbuck, bushbuck, buffalo, gerenuk, big-eared oryx and flocks of birds of many different species.

The main game viewing is between July and November.

The famous giant baobab trees dot the park, their branches looking like roots. Some of the baobab trees are over 300 years old. Legend has it that a disgusted god turned them upside down at the moment of creation. All meals and lodging at Zion Campsite.

DAY 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha. Breakfast around 0600am. Take your picnic lunch with you and drive 15 minutes to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for the Game Drive. See the various resident animals on the crater floor.

The largest unbroken caldera in the world, Ngorongoro has an area of 260 kilometers and a depth of 610 meters. The crater provides a protected habitat for thousands of mammals and birds. The entire day is spent on the crater floor viewing lions, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras, black rhinos and many species of small antelope.

The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area lies between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara. It is home to the famous Ngorongoro Crater, which is the largest intact caldera in the world. The crater is a spectacular setting in which to experience your African safari. Some scientists argue that before it erupted, the Ngorongoro crater, the world’s largest intact caldera, would have been higher than Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa.

Covering just 100 square miles (260 square kilometers), the 1,969-foot (600-meter) deep crater is home to a permanent population of more than 30,000 animals. It is one of the few places in Africa where you have a good chance of seeing the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant) in the course of a safari.

The local Maasai are allowed to graze their cattle on the crater floor, and it is not unusual to see Maasai cattle and buffalo grazing along with lions just yards away. There are about 1,000 lions in the crater, about 20 black rhinos, and the spectacular Lerai Forest is one of the best places in Africa to spot leopards. This is one of the natural wonders of the world.

Picnic lunch in the Crater. In the afternoon, before 04:30 pm, travel to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at the hotel of your choice.
