"Eldest brother" Television phenomenon: lowering the values of society

So-called reality television shows like “Big Brother” are aimed at those in our society who prefer to “simplify” their intelligence. And just look at the audience size you program like this command.

This is actually very good news for those of us who loathe garbage like this. Why? With so many people committing to this absurd nonsense, it leaves a relatively small percentage who prefer to do something to improve their knowledge and intelligence.

While everyone else is engrossed in the pathetic, crude, and often vulgar behavior that television moguls present to us as “entertainment,” those of us who refuse to be fooled may be doing many other valuable things, such as:

  • reading a book,
  • watching an educational program like a documentary,
  • write a letter or article,
  • studying for exams,
  • participate in meaningful conversation,
  • visit a family member or friend,
  • search for information on the internet,
  • attend an evening sports meeting,
  • go to eat,
  • practicing a musical instrument,
  • playing a board game.
  • Any of the above are far more worthwhile pursuits than watching a group of untalented criminals engage in voyeuristic behavior.

Just in case, I haven’t made it clear: yeah, I HATE TV nonsense like “Big Brother.” There are many other similar stupid TV offerings, but BB, as it is so affectionately called, is the most insidious in my opinion. It’s almost like a template for rat sack behavior – something the world certainly doesn’t need!

When it comes to entertainment value, BB is as childish as it can get. One can only assume that the intent of this particular show is to feed the voyeuristic nature of society. What amazes me is the fact that so many people look forward to seeing these would-be D-grade actors frolicking naked and half-naked and engaging in the most lewd behavior. Is that entertainment? I do not believe it.

There is another option that you can add to the list above: sleep. It would be much more beneficial.

Just to let you know, yes, I have seen bits of this crap. I went through several short segments just to see how many people were so in love with.

So, for all those people who have been hypnotized by this assault on our intelligence, I suggest this alternative:

Go to your local bookstore and buy a copy of “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. The next time you feel the urge to see such turgid garbage, read a chapter from this wonderful book. It will put you streets ahead of the onlookers.
