Network Marketing Prospecting – What is it?

You are now a distributor for a large multi-level marketing company. One of the techniques they teach you in the business seminar is prospecting. Those of you who become distributors for a network marketing company may find prospecting to be another fishing line to cast into the water as a supplement to your online network marketing recruiting activities.

If you find yourself to be an outgoing type of person, then searching for the next person in your downline is for you. So what exactly is prospecting? Doctors and lawyers use this technique all the time. The same goes for successful online network marketers.

What is prospecting?

I read somewhere that another definition of a prospect is a suspect that involves you in some way by providing your name, email, and / or phone number through the website, brochure, catalog, advertisement, etc. However, you are a prospect who has shown interest in your product, service, or opportunity.

This definition applies not only to offline network marketing, but also to online network marketing. When you send emails to your prospects, you are opening that communication door between you and your target market through electronic means. The prospecting rules have not changed. It is just the medium in which prospecting takes place. For the online network marketer, it is through email marketing.

When that prospect picks up the phone and calls you, you have the opportunity to develop a relationship with him and present your opportunity so that he can close the sale now or sometime in the future.
