One-of-a-kind festivals and special events keep Branson visitors coming back for more
Tucked away in the Ozark Mountains, Branson, Missouri has become a popular vacation destination over the years, which in turn has created a strong entertainment base. Shows like The Presley’s and The Baldknobbers may have started it all, but now there are over 100 shows to choose from, including tried-and-true country traditions, with a bit of Broadway, Rock ‘Roll, and contemporary performers thrown in for good measure. This is a real highlight as each month Branson announces more exciting events and things to do in the Tri-Lakes area.
During the month of August, Branson is a paradise for families looking for one last getaway before the rush of back to school. It’s also a time of change for Branson as the seasons begin to change from summer to fall opening up a whole new door of seasonal fun to take advantage of!
Branson also hosted the Olde Time Fiddle Festival during the month of August. This celebration of violin playing drew large crowds and featured violin playing of all ages, with prizes awarded to each age group. The 20th annual event was held at Branson Landing and was FREE.
Silver Dollar City announced its Southern Gospel Picnic Festival, a celebration of food and music that is a traditional favorite. The festival started on August 28 and will run until September 7. There are hundreds of gospel performances throughout the park, with special concerts at the end of the night at the Echo Hollow Amphitheater. The best country cooking will also be available and featured at The House of Chicken & Fixin’s and The Picnic Wagon, located on the Silver Dollar City plaza for this 11-day event.
The Tour of Missouri also heads to Branson, Missouri, and is scheduled to race in the area on September 10. Up to 120 riders from 15 elite teams will compete during the Tour of Missouri, and race organizers have already promised a tougher and more challenging Tour of Missouri. The Branson leg of the race begins at Branson Landing and ends at The Shepherd of the Hills. With this being Branson’s second year as a “host city,” the number of spectators promises to be just as exciting as last year.

The Autumn Daze Arts & Crafts Festival also headlined August announcements, as it is scheduled to begin on September 18 and end on September 21. More than 150 artisans will display their work during the event, which is FREE to the public. This juried Arts and Crafts Festival will take place in downtown Branson and will feature food and fun for the whole family.
