overflowing love tanks

In Titus 2:4, Paul says: Looking at them, young women will know how to love their husbands and their children, be virtuous and pure, have a good home, be good wives. In Ephesians 5:25, he speaks to men: Husbands, do all you can to love your wives exactly as Christ did for the church: a love characterized by giving, not receiving.

This is the first starting point for marriage. Together with God, love forms the foundation of marriage. Love is the glue that unites a man and a woman, even if they are different. Even though they are angry with each other, love unites them again. Love is the juice of makeup. Love is the Band-Aid and, when necessary, the bandage.

If there is no love, there is no hope. I there is no love, there is nothing that calls you to each other. If there is no love, it is a great struggle that makes your heart sink.

Love is not a choice. It is a must. it’s a command. Something we all have to work on, and work hard too. You see, love these days is more like air time running out. The love tank between a man and a woman runs dry. In the past there was no other way to do it, you had to refill that tank. These days it’s easy to ditch the tank and find a new partner, only to realize around the next corner that the love tank is leaking even worse.

God has brought husband and wife together in a special way and that is through love. It is within this unique and special relationship that both parties grow and reach their full potential. Husband and wife encourage each other. Husband and wife laugh, play and cry together. Husband and wife serve each other. All because there is love.

And even more than that. God established marriage to bring children into the world. It’s the safe haven that children and spouses return to time and time again, where they can be themselves, are protected, and, yes, loved.

Yet even here, the world and evil find a way to interfere and do everything they can to empty that love tank. And the worst thing is that they get it in more than half of today’s marriages. Marriages are under enormous attack.

Therefore, we must use all our energy to make sure that the channel of love that flows in our love tanks flows strongly. Actually, it should overflow, because the people around us in the world need some of it too.

Let’s focus on this command. Let’s be the least and leave pride. Let’s be creative and look for places to surprise our spouse and partner with love. Let’s pump more and more love into each other’s tanks, because our relationships will be different and the world will feel the love of Jesus.

Holy Scripture

Titus 2:1-5

Reflection

How strong does your love flow?

Can your tank be more full?

How can you live more love?

Prayer

Father, thank you for teaching us about love. True love! Love that gives, and gives, and gives, without expecting anything in return. Please help me give like this too. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
