The JCPenney commercial song

JCPenny has always been a company that uses music in its commercials. Songs are always something people talk about and search for online. JCPenny’s commercial for American Living is a popular search item. There are three different commercials with three different songs. They also have Christmas commercials, Valentine’s Day commercials, and commercials that are a bit controversial.

General Commercials

The American Living songs are “Killing the Blues”. “Let’s Dance” and “Have You Ever.” JCPenny’s commercial back-to-school song of 2008 was “Don’t You Forget About Me”. It’s a great tribute to “The Breakfast Club”. It featured children dancing and acting like those who acted in the film. Another back to school song was “Rock Your Body” by Stagga Lee. The Magic commercial in 2007 used the Regina Spektor song called “Music Box”.

Christmas Commercials

One of the most controversial JCPenny commercial songs was the 1980s song called “99 Red Balloons”. The song is actually about a nuclear war, but only snippets of the song were used. Despite the song having another meaning than its intended purpose, it made for a beautiful commercial.

In 2005, the store used the song “Living Thing” for its commercial during the Christmas season. In 2007 the Christmas song was “Real Love” by John Lennon and a song called “All That I Want” by the Weepies.

Why use music in commercials

The JCPenny commercial song is what people associate with different seasons and sales. Over the years, the company has offered many different commercials with or without music. One thing that can be learned from the advertising business is that people need something to grab and hold their attention during commercials. The music used is from popular artists and some songs are made for the trading company itself.

The accomplishment of the commercials is to attract business to the many stores throughout the country. Back-to-school, branded, and holiday commercials help with sales and increase audience awareness of sales going on at all stores. Music has always been very beneficial in television commercials. Many of these commercials are found on YouTube.

When advertising companies look for songs to accompany commercials, they look for songs that are popular and that fit the overall image of the commercial. A lot of the songs they use come from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. They have songs made especially for the commercials, but more than that, they use the rights of other songs. JCPenny was only the second group to be allowed a license to use the John Lennon song.
