Dell 1609WX Projector Review

Dell has made a movie projector at a real cheap price. The 1609wx has two VGA input ports and one DVI input port. This means you can have a movie or slide show on your computer and at the same time project the image on the wall.

This portable movie projector projects in 16:10 format with auto sync up to 1600 x 1200 UXGA. The 1609WX promises to deliver a maximum brightness of 2,500 lumens and a contrast ratio of 1,900:1 for rich colors and sharp image quality. This is a plus if you can’t completely turn off the lights in the room.

The other features include automatic keystone correction and adjustable rear feet. Video playback is excellent for widescreen movies as this is a widescreen projector. This Dell 1609WX projector has the patented multicolor processing and BrilliantColour technology that promises spectacular color performance, image accuracy and image reliability. They say that magic is in the mirrors. I guess it’s the mirrors that mix all the lights and colors.

One of the drawbacks is probably the shutdown time. It claims to be fast, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Quick startup and shutdown are essential for busy executives on the go. Also, the weight of the projector is 2.25kg, which is heavier than most projectors. But if you use it to play movies most of the time, then it shouldn’t be that big of a problem. For those kinds of prices, it’s worth the weight.
