Tags in Microsoft Teams are a powerful feature that can be used to create groups of users and communicate with them instantly. This can be useful for a variety of scenarios, from grouping engineers working on a project in different departments to grouping students to communicate with them regarding assignments. In this article, we will cover how to set up and use tags, from both a user and admin perspective.

The first step is to create a Teamtag in the Teamtag app, located at https://app.tagteamapp.com/teamtag/. From there, the tag can be added to any channel in your organisation. It can then be used to categorize channels and make it easier to find relevant information.

You can manage the permissions for your team tag in the Teamtag App by selecting “Manage Tag Permissions” or by logging into your admin dashboard and navigating to “Tag Permissions”. Here, you can set who has access to the tag, whether it can be used with private messages or not, as well as other options.

The tag will also be accessible in the article bar of any article in your workspace. If you want to pin the tag to the sidebar, click on the properties button and select “Pin to the sidebar”.

Once a tag is created it can be used by any member of your team. However, it’s important to plan out how you use the feature so that everyone can get maximum value from it. You may want to use the “Manage Tags” or “Manage Members” to manage a specific tag and see its impact on your team.

As a general rule, you should only allow your team to use the tag if it can be regarded as a safe place for sharing sensitive information, such as passwords or other personal details. It’s also best to only share content with the people that you trust.
