Must visit places in Accra

The National Museum operates under the supervision of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. The oldest and largest museum was opened in 1957 by Her Royal Highness. It houses the objects of ethnography, archeology and some unique pieces of art, which compel visitors to visit the museum repeatedly. It has been divided into two different sections and each section houses unique objects such as gold weights, textiles, musical instruments, poetry, stools, etc.

National theater:

It was built in the 1990s and funded by the Chinese government to increase the trend of performing arts in Ghana. It is located in the heart of Accra and is home to three resident companies, these are The National Dance Company, The National Theater Players and The National Symphony Orchestra.

Accra International Conference Center:

One of Ghana’s most popular centers for large events is in the Christiansburg area, where you can also find several world-class hotels and the Kotoka International Airport. Due to this ease and comfort, most of the business meetings are held in this international Conference Center.

Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and Memorial Park:

This museum houses almost all the remains of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana. It was built to pay tribute to the president and his efforts to push Ghana towards independence.

jamestown:

Jamestown was established in the 17th century around the British Fort James, but was later merged with Accra and became a separate district of the city. It is the oldest part of the city and is still an important fishing port. Those who are interested in the colonial part of the city, James Town is the perfect place for them. With the passage, the total number of residents has increased due to its commercial and residential use.

Makola Market:

It is the busiest place in Accra from where you can shop at cheap prices. The entire market is dominated by women vendors selling fresh food, shoes, medicine, and pots. Makola Market is currently under the observation of Transaid, which has developed a Market Women’s Trade and Transport project. The main objective of this project is to support women traders and provide them with security.

Labadi Beach:

Labadi Beach is the best beach in the city, which is more like a paradise for beach lovers. It charges an entrance fee, but if your accommodation is in any of the hotels, which are located within the beach facilities, you can easily enjoy the beach several times without paying the entrance fee.

The capital city, Accra, has an international airport. It is the main airport of the country, serving various flights to Accra, from all the major airports in the UK and USA.
